Harvey T. Madman passed away on January 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, hard work, and deep love for family, friends, and the outdoors.
Harvey was born on December 22, 1933, in Browning, Montana, and was raised on the Milk River, a place he always considered home. He was the beloved son of Mike Madman and Laura (Edwards) Madman, who instilled in him the values of resilience, responsibility, and care for others that guided him throughout his life.
Following his schooling, Harvey proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was a Korean War veteran, a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride and honor.
On January 19, 1967, Harvey married Virginia Madman in a Justice of the Peace ceremony in Washington. Together they shared 31 years of marriage, building a life rooted in partnership, perseverance, and devotion to family.
Throughout his life, Harvey lived in many places, including Washington, Hungry Horse, Los Angeles, Kalispell, Missoula, and ultimately returned to Browning, Montana, where he spent his later years.
Harvey worked as a truck driver for Mayflower and as a mechanic in Kalispell, trades that reflected his strong work ethic and mechanical skill. He worked as a social worker from 1976 to 1993, offering compassion and support to those in need. Harvey retired in December of 1993.
Committed to lifelong learning, Harvey attended Flathead Community College and the University of Montana.
Outside of work, Harvey found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. He enjoyed watching boxing, basketball, horseback riding when he was younger, and spending time outdoors, where he felt most at peace. Above all, Harvey cherished time spent with his family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, and his pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was unmistakable.
Harvey is survived by his children: Kevin Madman, Richard Madman, Steven Madman, Shawn Madman, Laura Madman, and Jackie Madman; 6 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Madman; his parents, Mike and Laura Madman; his brothers, Gary Mike Madman Sr.; Robert "Bob" Madman Racine; his sister, Barbara Madman; his sons, Harvey Madman Jr., Michael Madman; and his daughter, Jeanie Madman.
Harvey will be remembered for his steady presence, his dedication to family, his service to others, and his enduring love for the land and community that shaped him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lives he touched, and the generations that follow.
