Lawrence Emery Mad Plume was born to Lawrence and Frances on May 2, 1967. On the day he was born, he was given the nickname "Snowman" by his grandma Agnes because there was about 12 feet of snow. His Pikanii given name is "AnataSiipisto" (A-not-ta-See-pis-two), given by his great auntie Cecile Brokey Tail Feathers, which was her father's name.

Snowman is preceded in death as he joins his father, Lawrence Mad Plume; mother, Wilhelmina Frances Kent Burd Mad Plume; his first wife, Christine Adelle Thompson; his son, Micheal; brothers, Marvin and Colin; nephew, Spencer; brother-in-law, Rick Ground; grandfathers, Richard Mad Plume, Chewing Black Bones, and George Burd; grandmothers, Mary Brokey, Agnes Chewing Black Bones Mad Plume, and Mildred Lozeau Burd Wagner; as well as his uncles and aunts, his second wife Cherry Nevins, and all his other relatives.

Snowman attended school in Browning from kindergarten through 12th grade. In high school he was active in sports, academics, music, and drama. In his senior year, he was welcomed into Randy and Mary Johnson's family. He was quarterback of the football team, played on the basketball team, and participated in track and field. He was president of the National Honor Society and a lead actor in a school musical (notably Oklahoma). He was also in the choir, which was invited to entertain all over, including the National Indian Youth Conference in Arizona. He graduated from Browning High School in 1985.

Snowman attended and graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman with a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. He also attended the College of Great Falls, where he studied Computer Science and Program Specialization.

Snowman met the love of his life, Christine Adelle Thompson, while employed at Johnson Cafe-Motel. They were joined in holy matrimony in August 1990. They made their home in Helena, Montana, and had a son, Michael, and a daughter, Sara.

He was employed at the Montana State Highway Roads Department in Helena, where he traveled all over Montana.

In 1999, Snowman joined the Army. He was stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and specialized as an Information Systems Operator Analyst. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge with Grenade Bar, and Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge. He traveled overseas to Kuwait and served in the Special Forces.

During his devotion to the Army, he was shot and captured as a prisoner of war and kept in a small hole in the ground. A young girl named Amina would go to where he was locked up and feed him food and water. One day she left the lock open, allowing Snowman to escape to safety. He was honorably discharged and faithfully served the armed forces by meeting and exceeding the required standards of duty performance and personal conduct.

Snowman moved to Great Falls, where he was employed at Benefis Hospital as a technician. He was also employed at the College of Great Falls as a math tutor.

Snowman moved back home to Two Medicine in 2013. He met his second partner, Sherry Nevins, and they later made their home in Valier, Montana.

In Browning, he was employed at Blackfeet Community College as a math instructor/tutor. He worked at Browning Public Schools as a substitute teacher and also worked at local convenience stores. He lived in Browning with his partner, Crystal Bull Bear, until his death.

Snowman attended rodeos and rode bucking horses. He loved playing the guitar and singing his tunes. He also liked to go fishing and enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include his daughter, Sara Mad Plume; partner, Crystal Bull Bear; brothers, Allen Mad Plume and Richard Bear Mad Plume; sisters, Elsie Ground, Betty Mad Plume, Janice Mad Plume, and auntie Christine Burd Cobell; nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

We will miss his jokes, stories, smile, and laughter.

Thank you for joining in Snowman's celebration of life.
